ATLANTA — President Joe Biden delivered the commencement address at Morehouse College on Sunday morning, marking his most direct engagement with college students since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict. This speech represented a crucial opportunity for Biden to connect with young Black men, a voter demographic that recent data suggests is showing decreased support for him.

During his remarks, Biden highlighted his administration's efforts to support Black Americans, notably citing a historic $16 billion in new aid allocated to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs). This investment underscores the administration's commitment to bolstering educational opportunities for Black students.

In addition to addressing domestic policy, Biden acknowledged the strong pro-Palestine sentiment prevalent among Morehouse students and faculty. He reiterated his calls for an immediate cease-fire in Gaza, increased humanitarian aid for the region, and reaffirmed his support for a two-state solution aimed at establishing a Palestinian state. This stance aims to balance humanitarian concerns with broader geopolitical objectives in the Middle East.

Biden's speech at Morehouse College highlights his ongoing efforts to engage with and address the concerns of young Black voters, while also navigating the complex dynamics of international conflict and diplomacy.
